The film portrays the various stages of relationships, from courtship to marriage, and highlights the importance of trust, love, and understanding in a relationship. The movie is filled with hilarious moments and witty dialogues that keep the audience entertained throughout. The performances of the cast are top-notch, with each actor delivering their best. Govinda's comic timing is impeccable, while Fardeen Khan and Genelia D'Souza's chemistry is. Overall, "Life Partner" is a funny, heartwarming, and entertaining movie that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. It's a perfect film to watch with family and friends, and it will leave you with a smile on your face.
Rumi Jaffrey returns from the aftermath disaster 'God tussi great ho'. The movie was a bad carbon copy of 'Bruce Almighty'. However after viewing Life Partner I realised that he if he rally put his mind to it, he could make a good comedy. As well as directing Rumi wrote the script. What really makes this movie enjoyable to watch is the comic dialogues and Fardeen Khan and Govinda's presence. Govinda has limited scope however when he appears on screen the movie picks up pace. He effortlessly can make one laugh. He does not have to practically do anything to amuse. The quality is in his personality. He is a natural. I was impressed with Fardeen's comic timing. He convinced me that he has the ability to make the audience laugh, when given the correct role and opportunity. Though he is not capable to do it independently. His support with Govinda manages to help him. The movie revolves around two couples who face difficulties in their lives after they choose to get married. Prachi Desai experiences adjustment issues while living with Tushaar's conservative family. Simultaneously Genelia D Souza and Fardeen Khan are discovering that there is more to a marriage than love. Fardeen gives Genelia a waking up call to come to terms with responsibilities in marriage life. Rumi Jaffrey presents to us a look at the institution of marriage from a humorous point of view. His directional skills are nothing special. But it has improved after God tussi great ho. The first hour is devoid of any p
Rumi Jaffrey after the disaster GTGH last year returns with a family type comedy film The film isn't a comedy as the promos showed instead it tries to balance a comedy and a relationship based comedy The film starts off with some comedy scenes but actually gets better when the characters get married and many of the gags work Tusshar- Prachi episode though straight out of TV serials yet works as it looks real while Fardeen- Genelia episode is also handled well though at times the comedy is too much The film however ends very badly as if the director wanted to hurry up the film The Amrita Rao episode looks too sudden and also the end looks too contrived Rumi Jaffrey seems to have improved a bit Music is okay Amongst actors Govinda works till he plays a casanova it doesn't suit him and also his styling looks made up yet he does a good job in his short role Fardeen Khan though too loud and winny at times does a good job in his role, he is improving Tusshar too though does annoy with his expressions in comic scenes does well in serious portions Prachi is a natural, maybe because of her experience playing such roles on the idiot box Genelia however goes OTT and shreiks so badly with her annoying voice she makes JTYJN performance look a classic Amongst rest Anupam Kher is okay, Darshan Jariwala is very good Vikram Gokhale is likable
As per the title the movie supposed to show the relationship, understanding and problems between Couples. Topic was really very interesting but Director fails to show the perfect picture of understanding or problems between couples. This is basically story of two friends one of them is fardeen (a rocking guy and sincere employee) whose life goes upside down when he marries his girlfriend Genelia (a rich girl, whose father can do anything for her). Chemistry between these two are really amazing. Other is Tushar (who belongs to a traditional family) who marries Prachi Desai (a mature and well educated girl), tushar got stuck between traditional value of his family and modern living of her wife. There is also an Divorce lawyer Jeet (Govinda), friend of these two, who always gives them suggestion to stay away from marriage. Acting wise Fardeen and Genelia was good and entertaining, Tushar was at his worst, though I am typical tushar fan, but I really hated his work here, Prachi was okay, Govinda again shines in such a small role, he did his best to make us laugh. He is still the best comedian. I will rate this 6/10
I just have one question? How do they make money with this kind of garbage - This is Bollywood at its worst. The acting the OTT scenes - the rich spoilt main characters as per usual lately. I mean are all well off Indians behave this way? - I mean take some responsibility of a serious subject - the ending I mean, is laughable - what on earth are these writers/producers on? I carried on watching it (on DVD) to see how bad it could get. Gobinda is as annoying as ever and Fardeen (anyone know why he shakes his head as though hes got some nerve damage?) Fardeen and Gobinda are two prime Idiots who are trying to resurrect their career by playing their fantasies as playboys. Dulha Mil Gaya, this and also Money Hai to Honey Hai - very similar poor directing/story/acting. Every film seems to have a night club scene. Back to the film - it does not make sense at all - with characters changing their life long views at a drop of a hat and suddenly everything is great. Avoid
Rumi Jaffery made his directorial debut with the disappointing'God Tussi Great Ho', thankfully his 2nd outing 'Life Partner' doesn't remind of his previous work. First things first: Don't watch 'Life Partner' with huge expectations, chances r you might turn it off. If you watch it with limited expectations, your bound to have a good time... to an extend! The first hour doesn't work, that's mainly because the story hardly moves. The film takes off when Prachi Desai enters the scene. The second hour is interesting and has a silly, but gripping climax. The music is good, with every song keeping the mood alive. While the Rumi Jaffery's writing is faulty at times. As a director, he does what his script demands. Performance-wise: Prachi Desai, undoubtedly is the life of 'Life Partner'. She looks damn cute and delivers a natural performance from scene A to Z. The second in command is Fardeen, who excels throughout. Tusshar is decent, while Genelia D'Souza hams. Anupam Kher, Vikram Gokhale and Darshan Jariwala are perfect in their parts. Veteran Comedian Jagdeep does a hilarious cameo as Fardeen's ill client. Amrita Rao is wasted. And last but not the least Govinda. He's first-rate in an extended special appearance. On the whole 'Life Partner' may not be the best film to watch on a Sunday, but not the worst either! Average.
There are different types of comedies. What the audience has been subjected to for over a year now has been the inane slapstick comedy that causes irritation, instead of evoking laughter. Subtle humor has been the hallmark of Kishore Kumar, Amol Palekar and Vinay Pathak's films. Then there are those comedies which may be witty, yet silly and genuinely funny at the same time. If your taste in such comedy could devour Partner and No Entry among recent examples, then acclaimed writer Rumi Jaffrey's 'Life Partner' will tickle your funny bone while also providing you with some rational drama that often jumps to melodramatic levels. Nevertheless, the film is better than one would expect .. Karan (Fardeen Khan) plays the lover boy whose love marriage turns him into a house-man of sorts, Bhavesh (Tusshar Kapoor) plays the orthodox Gujju who will abide by the archaic customs established by his conventional father (Darshan Jariwala) while Jeet (Govinda) plays a relentless divorce lawyer to whom marriage is the biggest mistake that one can make. In a turn of events, Karan marries his spoilt rich girlfriend, whose father's negligence in training her led to her disastrous experiments in the household. Bhavesh goes to Gujarat to find a suitable bride but ends up marrying his father's childhood friend's daughter Prachi and Jeet disappears from the screen momentarily. Genelia's disasters at home and excessive indulgence with inactivity frustrate Karan who is working hard to maintain their li
Surprisingly, Life Partner is actually quite a fun movie, especially in the first half ! The dialogs of the movie were pleasantly witty and with absolutely no slapstick !! Govinda is back in his old touch and one thoroughly enjoys the first half. However Life Partner is not without its flaws as the second half gets a little more sentimental and comedy takes a backseat. The movie is about two NRI couples in Cape Town - Karan-Sanjana (Fardeen-Genelia) and Bhavesh-Prachi (Tusshar-Prachi) and their lawyer friend Jeet (Govinda). Karan is the suave metro-sexual and his girlfriend is Sanjana, the spoilt-brat daughter of Anupam Kher. Bhavesh is the gawky Gujrati bought up with 'strict Indian values' – who is waiting to gift his virginity to his wife. Prachi is well ... just Prachi Desai – saccharine sweet smile and not much else. The first half of the movie introduces us to Karan-Sanjana and Bhavesh and their families etc and of course, Jeet ! He is a divorce lawyer who is perennially looking for opportunities to break up marriages. And he himself has just once policy - No marriage !! Govinda is definitely the strongest point of the movie and his tete-a-tetes with Genelia are fun to watch. Though at his age, Govinda just cant carry off two firang babes on his arms (and though he looks really thin on the posters, those are just photoshop effects – he looks just as fat in the movie) Trouble arrives in the form of marriage – Bhavesh goes all the way to Gujarat to find himself a wife and
If we go through our golden era of black and white films before the 70s, then there are several movies featuring many big stars of that time, which are just nice and cool for a one time watch. They are neither a masterpiece nor could be considered as trash. "Life Partner" also falls in the same category, where you simply feel OK after watching it and don't mind your valuable time and money spent. In fact a particular section of the viewers may love it for the enjoyable act performed by their favorite Virar Boy, Govinda. The screenplay revolves around two young couples and their common lawyer friend who is known for his specialization in divorce cases. When both the married couples face rough times after their marriage, their lawyer friend offers them help and gets them rescued. The plot had a great scope of humor and entertainment for its viewers. But since it is used in a very restricted manner, the final outcome couldn't result in a complete laugh riot. The movie has its own moments of comedy and preaching too. The director tries to explain the meaning of marriage and its tradition with a pinch of comedy, romance and family drama. So, all the three basic elements of an Indian movie are combined together by Rumi Jaffery in his second attempt, produced by the famous director duo Abbas Mastaan. The movie can be clearly divided into two parts where the first half stresses on the comedy and romance element of the story and the second focuses on the post marriage conflicts and fa
This movie brings back some memories of an era that has gone by and one which consists a message that has been added in with some humour.. Three friends, one involved in selling spices, the second who works for an International company and a third, a divorce lawyer – who will stop at nothing to get some business, don't have any marital problems until they tie the knot and its when they approach marital life from different angles and how they handle the situation that each one of them is in that makes it interesting. Starring Govinda, Genelia D'Souza, Tusshar Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Prachi Desai, Anupam Kher and Amrita Rao, this is directed by Rumi Jaffrey, while Javed Akhtar pens the lyrics and the music score is by Preetam. It's nice to see Govinda back in a role that he is good at – comedy and serious and in a role that demands both comedy and serious as do Fardeen Khan and Tusshar Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza. Gone is the era which showed marital problems and couples splitting up but Rumi Jaffrey brings back that era and has also added some humour, though it is restricted, to this and this is what makes it worthwhile to watch. A couple of songs, which have been penned in by Javed Akhtar, are worth listening. This is one movie that can be said that is one that can be watched with family members at any time.
